Even though this commercial has two songs in it. I’m only going to talk about the Motley Crue song since we just talked about the song Mr. Sandman the other day when I wrote about the Kia Optima Teaser.
I’m listening to this album, Dr. Feelgood right now on Rdio. Kickstart My Heart is track #5, which would make it the opening song on side 2 on the record. This is the song that the band uses as their closing song when playing live. Now here is a big surprise for you, this song is about drugs. It was written by guitarist Nikki Sixx about a time in 1987 when he overdosed on drugs in Slash’s hotel room. He was declared clinically dead, but then got two adrenaline in his heart and he was revived.

Kia Commercial Description
2012 commercial for the Kia Optima. This is the extended version of the Super Bowl commercial. Remember this Super Bowl teaser featuring flag waving model Adriana Lima? This is the commercial they were teasing us for. We first see the Sandman sneaking into a woman’s bedroom at night, with a bag of sand that he sprinkles on her. We then see her dreaming, riding a horse with a hunky guy through a green field.
As the Sandman sneaks to the other side of the room, he trips on some slippers and dumps way too much sand on the sleeping man’s face. This is when the Motley Crue song starts. His turbo charged dream starts with a car peeling out and a flag waving Adriana Lima on a race track. The man speeds off on the race track in his white Kia Optima while Motley Crue is performing live in the middle of the track. Vince neil even points at the man as an audience of bikini girls cheer.
Next we see a cowboy riding a bucking rhinoceros, two lumberjacks sawing a giant submarine sandwich who give him a thumbs up, and Chuck Liddell kicking an opponent in the head with a literally explosive kick. The man then drives off of the track and busts through into his wife’s dream where she is on the horse. The car scares the horse, bucks the wife off, and he catches her. He then drives off with his wife.

My crazy daughter keeps insisting that House’s Hugh Laurie is the sandman character. Nothing I say or do will dissuade her. Please, if anyone knows who this guy is, post it now; she is driving me nuts!

Just for the record, yes the song Kickstart My Heart was written by Nikki Sixx, who is Motley Crue’s BASSIST, not GUITARIST
Good question! I know that’s been burning on a lot of people’s minds. Some thought maybe he was Danny Bonaduce but those that guessed that would be mistaken. The Kia Sandman is none other than Ric Sarabia. Well, now you know!
