Hyundai Commercial Description

2012 tv ad for the Hyundai Azera car. We see a white Azera driving through the city. I’d be interested to know more about how the makers of this commercial were able to drive the car through a metropolitan area, a downtown part of the city, but there are no other cars on the road anywhere. Was this a big set? Or an actual city? If you know, let me know in the comments.

Voiceover Says

If garages could talk, they’d say something like: Mmmmmm, cut me off a slice of that. Introducing the beautifully seductive 2012 Azera, from Hyundai.

More About Artist & Song

Major Lance was an R&B singer who was most prominent in the 1960’s. He grew up on the North side of Chicago. He attended the same high school as singer/songwriter Curtis Mayfield. Curtis Mayfield was actually the songwriter for “Um, Um, Um, Um, Um, Um”. He was the songwriter for most of Major Lance’s successful songs. After his success in the 1960’s, his career began to cool down, so he moved to England. He became a fairly iconic figure there during the Northern Soul movement. While he was in England, he went on tour and his opening act was a band named Bluesology, who’s piano player was a then obscure musician by the name of Elton John.

The commercial was shot in houston, Texas. As a native houstonion I noticed that the filming was near the old Enron buildings and you can see the exterior of what I think is the Hyatt and the centerpoint building. At the end there is a clear shot of a Texas flag. I do not know how they shot it with no cars and the streets look much cleaner than they are.
