Budweiser “Eternally Optimistic” Ad

I’m a little embarrassed to be writing this post right now. I remember first seeing this commercial right after The Super Bowl and thinking how cool of a commercial it was. But I’d just done what seemed like 8,000 Super Bowl commercials, and I figured this particular Budweiser ad wouldn’t be around for too much longer. Boy was I wrong. Four months later, and I see this thing all of the time. It really is a good and ambitious ad.

1930s: The beer ad starts with a newspaper dropping onto the ground, the headline reads “Prohibition Is Over!”. Everyone is celebrating, people holding up signs in the background that say “Good old days are back!” The first thing many do is run into a bar to enjoy a Budweiser beer.

1940s: We see a headline that says “WAR ENDS”, the newspaper is being held by a US sailor. People are celebrating in the streets and waving American flags.

1950s: We see a guy dressed in 1950’s style black leather jacket, slung over his shoulder, and a white t-shirt. He is walking into a diner, where someone slides a bottle of Budweiser beer towards him.

1960s: A group of people in a bar, watching the moon landing together. They’re mostly drinking Budweiser.

1970s: People are in a disco. And for some reason there is a horse in this disco. But people are dancing and drinking Budweiser.

1980s: We see a group of people in a bar, celebrating what I can only assume is the 1980 victory of the US Olympic hockey team over the Soviet team. Then we see people outside break dancing.

1990s: People are running in the rain to get inside a packed bar to watch a grunge band play. The lead singer is crowd surfing with his face up near the window.

2000s: Finally there is a big group of people, outside in the street at night watching a dj and rapper perform the song that’s playing the commercial, Good Feeling by Flo Rida.

More About The Song

The song Good Feeling is from Flo Rida’s 2012 studio album “Only One Rida (Part 2)“. The song happened to be the album’s lead single. It was written by Flo Rida, Cirkut, Breyan Isaac, Arash Pournouri, Tim Bergling, and Dr. Luke. Yes, a small army of songwriters. However the most notable one would be Dr. Luke. His writing credits have been pretty impressive over the last few years. He has lots of hits to his name. If you listen to the whole song, you will note a vocal sample from the Etta James song, “Something’s Got a Hold on Me.” As of the time of this writing, the song has broken through the top then in 16 countries.

Here is the video for the song “Good Feeling”, if you watch closely you’ll notice that Snoop Dogg makes a cameo appearance and shakes hands with Flo Rida.
